Jesus Christ was believed to be the Son of God , yet he was made to carry the cross, and he was jeered enroute to the hills , and finally hung on the cross, which was the capital punishment of those days.
The belief is that Jesus carried the cross for the sins of mankind , crucified & miraculously resurrected after the third day. This is the cornerstone of the Christian faith .
Mankind now is made to carry a cross now , for our own sins.
Over the years we have misused the bounty given to us by Mother Earth. In our greed to expand and dominate our presence we have plundered the forests, pushing back the animals , birds and other species out of their habitats. We have burnt fossil fuels to generate electricity for our giant factories, spewing forth toxic fumes into the atmosphere.
We have dug deep into the oceans for oil, disturbing the living creatures in the ocean ,to fuel our cars & vehicles further adding to the CO2 levels and depleting the earth's ozone layer . We have destroyed the seas with overfishing, and polluting it with our garbage,
Nature over the years has given us many warnings, be it a tsunami, tornado, storms & cyclones which have flooded our cities taking lives & disrupting our normal lives.The tsunami just a few years ago in Indonesia and other parts of South East Asia showed us the destructive power of rising seas.
Yet we continue our ways , of plundering the nature. The rising global temparature is now melting the Artic shelf and every year the level of the seas is rising.If this continues many a Island nation would be under the sea, and many coastal areas of nations would be engulfed by water.
Now nature as a dire warning ,has again hit back with a virus which has crippled our individual lives . It has taken a toll of lives and changed the way we live, locking us in our own homes.. It has crippled the economies of the world leaving many jobless & destitutes. The whole world is scrambling to find a vaccine for this pandemic while lives continue to be lost, and people are locked in their homes & in their minds.
We have no idea when this pandemic will end or how will life be post pandemic if at all.Nobody can predict if life will ever return to what we knew.
So nature has placed a cross on us to let us know its anger. Mankind is now carrying a carring a cross through a Via Dolorosa across the earth and of its own making. Will we be able to walk the path and make a resurrection?
If we do not change our ways we will go the way of the dinosaurs, and life from the other galaxies visiting in the future will walk through the Via Dolorosa called the earth , with words of Shelley ringing in their ears......
